Budapest Adventures 2016 – Day Three

Here is the third part (and third day) of me and my friend Sarah’s trip to Budapest. Watch as we explore vintage shops and chill by the thermal baths in the sun! You can read about the trip here and if you want to watch the first part of the series you can find it here, and the second part here.

Organic Treats From Apotea

If you follow this blog, then you might remember that my mom got me the most amazing care package during the holidays. She told me she bought everything at Apotea, a sort of Swedish online pharmacy that not only sell health care products but also food, snacks and drinks, much of which are organic and vegan (to a reasonable price). I just finished the box she got me and decided to check out the Apotea online store (because #treatyoself, am I right?).

Budapest Adventures 2016 – Day Two

Here is the second part (and the second day) of me and my friend Sarah’s trip to Budapest last summer! We bought a whole lot of tasty things at Central Market Hall and had a picnic in the sun at the top of Gellért Hill! The view was amazing (as I’m sure you can tell)!

You can read more about the trip here and see the first part of the series here.

A Little Taste of Tokyo

premium-plan.png

I’ve been wanting to try a subscription box filled with Japanese treats since forever, and while researching for my trip to Japan today I stumbled over Tokyo Treat, a subscription box company that sell boxes filled with full size treats directly from Tokyo. I decided to give it a shot and ordered the premium box for $34.99 which contain 16-18 Japanese snacks and candy, 1 DIY candy kit, 1 drink and 1 special item. The reason why I picked Tokyo Treat over other companies was the option to cancel at any time, the website, which was super easy to navigate and the free shipping worldwide. I can’t wait to see what I get in my box! (It should arrive between 20th-28th so keep an eye out in February!)

This is not sponsored in any way, I just have a quirky way of trying to get inspired before going on a trip. (And in my book, eating weird stuff is a pretty good way of doing so.)

Budapest Adventures 2016 – Day One

So it pains me to tell you that I probably shot hours worth of material on my trip to Budapest last summer. Having never done a travel vlog before I got the brilliant (terrible) idea to just put it all together into one massive video (instead of making several shorter ones divided by the days we spent there). I can, without a doubt, call this project one of my biggest project disasters and I really had to just ignore it for months before I could get back into it and have fun with it again. (And gladly, getting back into editing actually made me nostalgic and happy.)

With that being said – I can finally bring you the very first part (day one) of me and my friend Sarah’s trip to Budapest last summer. We had travelled since 2 am and were both hungry and tired by the time we arrived at the airport, but we got to cuddle fluffy cats and explore the beautiful Andrassy Street before we went to bed in our airbnb apartment later that night.

If you want to know more about our trip to Budapest, you can read about it here and here is A Practical Guide to Budapest if you plan on going!

Youtube Travel Inspiration – Japan (Part 1)

I don’t really know why, but I’m the kind of person who will wake up one morning with a sudden and intense desire to go some place specific in the world. I had never been tempted to go to Japan before, but suddenly one day I just realised that I have to go. Usually when I have decided on where I want to go, I just begin to absorb all the information and inspiration I can to the point where I lose track of time (and there is nothing I love more than obsessing over a place I’m going to even of it’s months in advance).

While I’m a part of many travel related groups on facebook, I can’t help but being a little uncomfortable when people write things like “I have been in Thailand now for three days and I was wondering if you have any advice on fun things to do here?” simply because that’s just not the kind of traveller I am. Half the fun for me when it comes to travelling is getting inspired before a trip and youtube is a great source when it comes to travel inspiration. Here are my current favorite youtube channels covering Japan.

My First Lush Kitchen Experience

lush 4.JPG

Here is a confession for you – I have been a devoted Lushie for years, but I have never purchased anything through Lush Kitchen. Every week Lush Kitchen release a menu of handmade, limited Lush products that you can’t find in Lush stores or online shops. It’s a great way to get your hands on retro favorites but also a chance to try new inventions. The reason why I have never purchased anything before is because I’m a student and I try to save money for future adventures, but when Butterball shower gel and Egg Snog lip balm showed up in the kitchen a couple of weeks ago I just had to have it, as I love the cocoa butter bath bomb with the same scent and name.

Travel Expectations – Japan

mt-fuji-1898711_1280.jpg

It seems like it was only yesterday that I was searching like crazy to find a travel buddy (with very little result) and the idea of going to Japan was just that – an idea. Now me and an amazing Italian girl named Marta have booked our tickets, accommodation and made a two week travel plan to explore everything from Kamakura to Tokyo. (And I got an amazing bonus as I get to join Marta in Milan for four days before we head to Japan.)

Japan is such an amazing contrast to Sweden where I live, with that being said, I naturally have some expectations going into this adventure. I thought it would be fun to share them with you now, 3,5 months before going, and then get back to you as I come home at the end of May and reflect on how accurate they were.

A Fresh New Year

lysh

In my pervious post about The Lush Christmas Gifts 2016 I wrote a little bit about how I didn’t do a lot of shopping in 2016. The reason for this was partly because of my travel plans as I’ve had to save money but it’s also been a conscious decision on my part to consume less (I’d like to lower my impact on the environment and to have a less cluttered home).

When it comes to products like toothpaste, soap, shampoo and more, these are things that I need, and enjoy, which is why I choose to purchase a greater amount at the beginning of each year to cover the upcoming 12 months, and I buy everything at Lush because I agree with their values. With this being said, people tend to look at the amount of products I buy and get shocked, but I would rather spend my money on great products that are cruelty free, often naked (package free) and are made of top quality ingredients, than to buy products that cause harm to the people who make them, animals and the environment.

Lush Christmas Gifts 2016!

lush

Christmas came and passed quickly for me this year and by New Year’s I decided to open my Christmas exclusive gifts from Lush. Every year I’ve had a tradition of buying myself gifts from Lush to spoil myself and celebrate my endeavours (Because #treatyoself). This year, since I decided to save money for travel and do a minimal amount of shopping through 2016, it was especially fun to unbox these goodies! I figured it would be fun to share the unboxing of them with you, especially since the Christmas products are on sale in all the Lush stores at the moment, and if you’re lucky, you might still be able to find these gifts 50% off at your local Lush store!
