Monthly Update – April

IMG_0157.JPG

What a crazy month it has been!

I have finished my internship at Brewhouse, been insanely stressed out about my trip (with good reason), worked on my last assignments for school before my graduation and spent more time travelling back and forth between my family home, visiting my parents, and my apartment in Gothenburg. One part of me is so extremely excited about the trip to Italy and Japan that I have a hard time believing that it is finally happening, and another part of me is trying to finsih everything that is related to school. This means that my mind is pretty much all over the place, but it’s not at all bad! The biggest change that came with April is my mental health. Now I’m at a point where I not only function like my normal self, but I’m also filled with excitement and anticipation, and my depression is very, very far away.

Tokyo Treat Shop – Part 2!

front

Not too long ago I received my very first box from the Tokyo Treat Shop (not to be confused with Tokyo Treat which is their subscription service) and I loved it so much that I decided to place another order. I picked the cheapest shipping cost for both boxes and while the first one came after 20 days, this one came a lot quicker (10 days). Despite the Pakkuncho Disney biscuits (which I got in the previous box) there were several new things to try!

Tokyo Treat Shop!

With only one month left until I leave for Japan, what better way to celebrate than to get a taste of the country? 🙂 If you follow my blog, then you know that I just recently subscribed to the Tokyo Treat box, but as I found out that they also have a Tokyo Treat Shop where you can pick out and buy snacks and candy of your choice, I decided to gave it a try!

My Very First Tokyo Treat Box!

img_9674

After a long, difficult week with a cold this wonderful surprise showed up at the post office! You might recall that I ordered my very first Tokyo Treat box a while back and let me tell you – it was totally worth the $34.99 I spent. The premium box was not only generous but the products were super fun and playful. Let me show you!

A Little Taste of Tokyo

premium-plan.png

I’ve been wanting to try a subscription box filled with Japanese treats since forever, and while researching for my trip to Japan today I stumbled over Tokyo Treat, a subscription box company that sell boxes filled with full size treats directly from Tokyo. I decided to give it a shot and ordered the premium box for $34.99 which contain 16-18 Japanese snacks and candy, 1 DIY candy kit, 1 drink and 1 special item. The reason why I picked Tokyo Treat over other companies was the option to cancel at any time, the website, which was super easy to navigate and the free shipping worldwide. I can’t wait to see what I get in my box! (It should arrive between 20th-28th so keep an eye out in February!)

This is not sponsored in any way, I just have a quirky way of trying to get inspired before going on a trip. (And in my book, eating weird stuff is a pretty good way of doing so.)

Youtube Travel Inspiration – Japan (Part 1)

I don’t really know why, but I’m the kind of person who will wake up one morning with a sudden and intense desire to go some place specific in the world. I had never been tempted to go to Japan before, but suddenly one day I just realised that I have to go. Usually when I have decided on where I want to go, I just begin to absorb all the information and inspiration I can to the point where I lose track of time (and there is nothing I love more than obsessing over a place I’m going to even of it’s months in advance).

While I’m a part of many travel related groups on facebook, I can’t help but being a little uncomfortable when people write things like “I have been in Thailand now for three days and I was wondering if you have any advice on fun things to do here?” simply because that’s just not the kind of traveller I am. Half the fun for me when it comes to travelling is getting inspired before a trip and youtube is a great source when it comes to travel inspiration. Here are my current favorite youtube channels covering Japan.

Travel Expectations – Japan

It seems like it was only yesterday that I was searching like crazy to find a travel buddy (with very little result) and the idea of going to Japan was just that – an idea. Now me and an amazing Italian girl named Marta have booked our tickets, accommodation and made a two week travel plan to explore everything from Kamakura to Tokyo. (And I got an amazing bonus as I get to join Marta in Milan for four days before we head to Japan.)

Japan is such an amazing contrast to Sweden where I live, with that being said, I naturally have some expectations going into this adventure. I thought it would be fun to share them with you now, 3,5 months before going, and then get back to you as I come home at the end of May and reflect on how accurate they were.
